Our Web Site Has a New Look!
Wednesday, January 16th, 2008Thank you for checking out our new website and blog! We are very excited about our new site and all the exciting things happening at Schuppan’s Trailer Sales! Make sure you check back often, we will keep you informed on what’s new and keep you in the loop on what we have been doing either with our business or if we have had any interesting trips with our horses.
We were trying to find new ways to get the word out to tell everyone that we are Nebraska’s Sundowner Dealer. So I planned a two day trip to Omaha and Lincoln to visit business with similar clientele. I started out in Gretna, NE at the Lucky D Tack Shop. A friendly miniature schnauzer greeted me at the door, and his “Mom” called the owner, Deb, up for me. Had a great visit with Deb. I strongly suggest that if you are in the area to stop by, they are just a mile north of the Gretna exit and their store is loaded with great things! Anything and everything you would ever need when you own a horse or know someone who does.
My next stop was at the Chance Ridge Veterinary Clinic in Elkhorn, NE. They are a full service Veterinary Clinic and also hold many horse related events that W. Burton Smith DVM personally invited Schuppan’s to become a sponsor for in the future. So don’t be too surprised if you see us there this year! Met some of the ladies at the front desk as well, everyone was super nice and looked like they truly loved being a part of Chance Ridge.
My next venture was to Five Star Stables in Bennington, NE. WOW! What a great facility! Amber gave me the grand tour and I was able to sit in on a group riding lesson that Sherman Tegtmeier was instructing. Sounds like they have quite a few events there as well in addition to boarding, training and lessons. I missed the opportunity to meet Sherman’s wife, Sarah, but I did get to speak with her on the phone. Great people!!
I stopped for a quick bite at the local Runza where the lady working there complimented me on my nail color. I told her it was OPI’s latest color called, “I’ve Red The Script”. Can’t get over how nice all these people are here!! Anyway, it was off to my next stop at Nebraska Equine Veterinary Clinic in Omaha, NE and had a great visit with these nice folks also. Sounds like they have some big changes going on for them too. They are moving to a brand new facility soon! I’ll have the information on their new location as soon as they move. They were glad I stopped because they have a lot of clients ask them where to buy trailers and it was a great opportunity to get acquainted.
From there, I headed out to American Legacy Complex. Took a little extra time, apparently the GPS didn’t quite understand where I was going and got me lost!! Might have been my fault, but it is always easier to blame technology! A quick phone call to Dorothy Turley and she got me back on track. This was also a great horse facility. You can enjoy all the comforts of home in their observation room and gaze through the full glass wall into the indoor riding arena. Dorothy’s son gave me the tour and it was great to see so many different breeds of horses in one spot. They do all sorts of fun things there including boarding, lessons, horse shows, and even birthday parties!!
My last stop in Omaha was at Wolf Bros. Western Wear. Tom Kirshenbaum is a long-time acquaintance from the days that I showed the Nebraska Quarter Horse Circuit. Unfortunately I missed meeting up with him that day. I did get to visit with a couple of his knowledgeable staff members and of course, my credit card got abused a bit while I was there. I can’t seem to go through Omaha without spending money at this fine store! Hope to catch you next time Tom. We need to catch up!
The next day, Steve met me in Lincoln to continue the journey. We stopped in at Seville Stables and visited for a while. They were glad we stopped because they already pull a Sundowner and were glad to know where they could now go to get service and warranty work done. This is also an impressive operation and I encourage you to visit whenever you are in town.
After that, we visited another old friend, Kelly Stitch, DVM at their brand new facility Hillcrest Animal Clinic. We have known Kelly for about ten years and we are so happy for her and her business. She was also thrilled we stopped by and gave us the tour. This is a state-of-the-art facility and from the sounds of it, is taking off well. We spent some time visiting and vowed to get together when we were in town for the Horse Expo.
Our final stop was also a long lost friend from my days showing Quarter Horses, Brenda Messick at Messick Tack and Feed. I had never been to her store, and I will not pass through Lincoln again without stopping! She carries tons of inventory, has great sales, and many unique items as well! If you walk in with no plans on buying anything, you’ll find something you just have to have. She and Steve visited about their new found horse hobby, trail riding, and I can see us doing some of that with the Messick’s in the future.
This is just the beginning of our Partners. Keep checking in on our Schuppan Partners Page to get the latest new links to our new friends!
